All I want;
A copy of The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
Where the Wild Things Are, the movie.
UV filter(s) for the Nikon(s).
Nice words, from loved ones.

Please don't spend much.
I'd be happy with a potted plant, honestly.

Every year I ask for a potted plant.

Feral Beauty

More from today;
the ones of the feral girl
(and I don't mean the cat)
are by Chelsea.

Beauty continued

There are too many good ones,
she is gorgeous.
And if you knew her heart,
you would understand why so many people love her.

The other day I was driving home and I saw a soda bottle on the side of the road.
It got me thinking; things are rarely beautiful anymore.
Things come cheap and easy to us.
Look at the antique bottles, they are still captivating.
And there on the side of the road is an ugly plastic bottle.
How can we just float along through such a gross reality?

This is Chelsea. She is Beauty.
One of the classiest people I know.
She gives me hope.
I love her.
She is sweet and let me photograph her in the act of being Beautiful.
Thank you Chels.

Currently obsessed with Where The Wild Things Are.

Let the wild rumpus begin.

Love and Ladders

Here is my Ambassador article submission for the month, it should run in October.

Love and Ladders

The greatest commandment is Love. We are called to be Love to the world around us. The Love we know as Christians is the truth that separates us from other religions. Unfortunately there are days we don’t feel very loving. On such a day I was walking through the parking lot and saw a pair of scary looking people coming in my direction. I really didn’t want to have to talk to them, so naturally I pulled out my phone and began to act like I was deep in text conversation. Imagine my surprise when I walked straight into a ladder with my face. Someone had it hanging out of their truck, conveniently right level with my forehead. So WHACK! I walk into it at a decent speed, since I was running late for Spanish, and the sound echoes through the parking lot.

My thoughts went as follows; “OWWW, WHAT ON EARTH… BUT WHY?? Oh I hope no one noticed… AM I BLEED-“

“Are you OK?? Oh honey, ouch! Let me see.”

Yes. The scary couple who I was trying to avoid having to make even parking lot conversation (which consists of a smile and a nod at most) was concerned and coming to my rescue.

“Am…Am…Am I bleeding??” I asked as I removed my hand from my smarting forehead.

“No, you’re good.” The scruffy lady assured me. “Do you need anything, hun?” her daunting friend asked.

By now I’m feeling lower than an ant, ‘A helmet and a new attitude’ I thought as I thanked them and stumbled off to class. I had a headache, but I learned a lesson that day; Look up and stay alert in parking lots. No, I’m kidding. I should have known better, as kids my granddad used to drill my sisters and me on parking lot safety. The real lesson here is that God’s people shouldn’t be afraid of, or worse feel superior than anyone. How can I show Christ’s love with my nose buried in my phone? It isn’t cute and it’s not OK to have days like that. I am called to be Love, so I need to step up and be that Love. I can’t stand there on my soap box giving my testimony of how this Great God I love came in and changed my heart and my life, and then turn around and ignore the opportunity to even just smile at someone who was Divinely placed in my path. How else will the hurting and lost come to know the Awesome God we serve if we the body don’t start to move? There isn’t much else to it.

(But on a side note: Seriously people, who has a ladder just sticking out of their truck like that in a college parking lot?? If you have a ladder maliciously hanging out at face level, you should put something eye-catching on it for safety; like a red flag or road flares or a disco ball. Something.)

What is in a name?

I roam with the wild things
the things with wild hair
their wild eyes search you
and find what isn't there

Old shots I never published,
I have deactivated my facebook, not that anyone cares.

Today I rode my bike out to the Buttes with my Nikon N65 and took pictures at will.
It felt so good to be on my bike,
My iPod, a camera, and creation; the cure for everything.
I felt a little silly when people drove by, me on my white beach cruiser riding along the orchard paved back roads, but I was content.
And who cares what people think?
We are each responsible for our own decisions, and if I feel like riding my cute bike where only mountain bikes have ventured before, I am going to damn well stand by my choice.
Even if I get a flat.
Because I am me.
And I ride my bike out of the city limits to take pictures of things I find pretty.
I am feral.

Enough of my ranting...
I will bring my DSLR next time so I have proof of my excursion.
Until Thursday (when we start the Dark Room) I will not know if my venture was a success.

I have to babysit.
I don't want to eat, but I am hungry.
I want to live a simple life.
There will always be someone better than you, even when you're the best.

Cat Lady

This morning the light coming into my room was too beautiful
to pass up snapping a few of her sleeping.
She's quick to steal my spot in bed.

This week went so quickly, thank God.
I'm getting my oil changed at 4 today;
I always get so intimidated when I deal with mechanics.
This one had an Australian accent though,
I think I love him;)

This weekend I have homework,
but a chunk of that homework is to take photos...
What a wonderful weekend this will be?
We shall see.

to babysit or not to babysit?
sunset, sunflowers, the Buttes
Humphrey Bogart, mmmm.
Is there no man with class?

I have added 2 new shutters to the family;
A Holga; which is basically a toy.
my Nikon N65, for my film class.

I almost made a stupid choice last week,
but I'm back to my senses.
You can bash your head against a wall, but in the end it's still a wall. Love only lasts while it lasts, and it goes pretty fast. You can only miss what is gone. Here is a picture of Anouk caught drinking from the sink while I was letting it warm so I could wash my face.

I'm starting a blog for Yuba College...
I think most people will just ignore it's existance, but it will give me something to photograph.
I'm about to get on my bike and look for some pictures with my new Nikon.
Let the creativity flow!

Things I am excited about;
My birthday
cardigans, scarfs, jeans, moccasins, and winter dresses
bon fires
hot apple cider
...and something else I just can't put my finger on.

I am a breeze.

I can feel the wind.
John 3:8

I've been a lion, I've been a crow
you promised me you'd never let me go
you tamed me with your pretty words
then caged me like the other birds
I've forgotten how to finish the kill
I spend my days at your windowsill
let the wind come, remind me of my change
wind come, remind me of the open range

With classes starting, I can feel my passions bubbling up.
My heart has come alive.
Creativity is singing along the corridors.

This should be good.

School has begun.
I've been slacking on my photographing.
I have two film cameras on the way.
One is a Holga, which will be described in three words; fun, lomography, plastic.
The other is a Nikon N65, I wanted an older vintage one but couldn't find it.
I'll be looking at thrift stores.

I love semi-colons.
"A year in sunsets."
Is it Friday yet?

I wish;

We've moved, I've gotten a car, and we celebrated Nana's birthday.
Isn't she pretty?

How can I be so relieved that classes are starting, but equally bummed?
I drive a station wagon, so what.
I wish my love life were an old movie with a happy ending (obnoxiously sappy, I know).

I wish, I wish, I wish.

The sunflowers I planted came in beautifully.
(I am aware of the horrid editing I did to the third picture)

Home, let me come home;
home is whenever I'm with you.

I've been very lazy.
These are old.
I need to get back to my shutterbug state.

Planning my 20th birthday.
I think I'm going to initiate, or change, a habit to celebrate the last 20 years of my life.
I love David Beckham, the dog.
I cannot wait for fall to be here with apple cider and scarfs.

Stumbled upon a den of thieves;
rummaging for answers in the pages,
and it's contagious, and it's contagious.
